What mattress is better than Saatva?
Founded in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end mattresses under three brand name names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils give the Saatva Classic a great amount of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top adds softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s mattresses, the Saatva Classic is provided by movers, rather than in a box.

Keep in mind: Saatva just recently updated the Zenhaven, changing the kind of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; read more about the distinctions below. We prepare to evaluate the new variation soon and will upgrade this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is likewise flippable (the Luxury Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Firm side feels a bit firmer), which might show helpful if you’re not sure what you choose or if your requirements alter over time. This is not a conventionally soft bed mattress, but it uses a supple cushion, good edge assistance, and a subtle springiness.
For this evaluation, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven bed mattress for several weeks in my own house. These mattresses were likewise assessed in our group tests conducted for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam bed mattress and the best innerspring mattresses. As Wirecutter’s senior staff author for sleep, I’ve talked to scores of experts in the mattress market and in materials science; gone to dozens of mattress factories, shops, and display rooms; and read the fine print on specs, warranties, and return policies. Most just recently, monitoring editor Courtney Schley evaluated the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her home for a number of weeks.

We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “eco-friendly” brand names. But we do know that the company utilizes thistle pulp or organic wool as a flame retardant (instead of fiberglass or chemicals) and just organic cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online mattress companies, Saatva touts such extras as zoned layers for “optimal spine assistance”; we’re less satisfied with those features and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer care and long lasting foams and coils.
