What mattress is better than Saatva?
Established in 2010, Saatva specializes in direct-to-consumer high-end bed mattress under 3 brand names: Saatva, Loom & Leaf, and Zenhaven. Pocketed coils provide the Saatva Classic an excellent amount of bounce near the top, and a luxurious top adds softness. As with all of the Saatva Company’s bed mattress, the Saatva Classic is delivered by movers, rather than in a box.

Note: Saatva just recently upgraded the Zenhaven, changing the type of latex used in its foam layers. The Zenhaven now includes Dunlop latex, instead of Talalay latex; learn more about the differences listed below. We prepare to test the new variation soon and will update this guide with our impressions.
The Zenhaven is likewise flippable (the High-end Plush side feels medium-firm, while the Mild Company side feels a bit firmer), which might show practical if you’re not sure what you choose or if your needs change over time. This is not a conventionally cushy mattress, but it offers a flexible cushion, excellent edge support, and a subtle springiness.
For this review, I slept on the Saatva Classic, the Loom & Leaf, and the Zenhaven mattresses for a number of weeks in my own home. These mattresses were also evaluated in our group tests carried out for Wirecutter’s guides to the finest foam mattresses and the best innerspring bed mattress. As Wirecutter’s senior staff writer for sleep, I have actually spoken with scores of professionals in the mattress industry and in products science; checked out dozens of mattress factories, display rooms, and stores; and pored over the small print on requirements, warranties, and return policies. Most recently, supervising editor Courtney Schley assessed the Saatva Latex Hybrid in her house for a number of weeks.
Making sense of Saatva Saatva’s portfolio of beds– numerous with an option of firmness levels and accommodating practically every convenience choice– consists of: Saatva Classic ( innerspring).
Loom & Leaf ( all foam).
Zenhaven ( all latex).
Saatva Latex Hybrid ( latex with coils).
Solaire ( a bed with adjustable air chambers). Saatva Mattress Pad
Saatva HD ( a latex-coil hybrid developed for sleepers who weigh 300 to 500 pounds).
Saatva Youth ( a foam-coil hybrid for kids ages 3 through 12).
We have not yet done a deep dive into the “natural” claims of Saatva or of other “eco-friendly” brand names. However we do know that the company utilizes thistle pulp or natural wool as a flame retardant (rather than chemicals or fiberglass) and just natural cotton (instead of synthetic blends) in its covers. As do other online bed mattress business, Saatva touts such additionals as zoned layers for “optimum spine assistance”; we’re less amazed with those functions and more appreciative of Saatva’s responsive customer service and resilient foams and coils.
